Delhi Section of Dwarka Expressway and UER-II to Open on August 17

Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway along with the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) project on 17th August 2025 in Rohini, Delhi.

The two major infrastructure projects, developed at a combined cost of nearly ₹11,000 crore, are aimed at decongesting the capital and boosting multi-modal connectivity across the NCR.

Delhi Section of Dwarka Expressway to Enhance Connectivity

The Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway, spanning 10.1 km, has been built at a cost of around ₹5,360 crore. This section will serve as a crucial link, offering seamless connectivity to Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot.

The expressway has been developed in two packages:

  • Package I: A 5.9 km stretch from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21.
  • Package II: A 4.2 km stretch from Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, directly linking to UER-II.
  • The Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway, covering 19 km, was earlier inaugurated by the Prime Minister in March 2024.

UER-II Project to Decongest Key Delhi Corridors

Alongside the Dwarka Expressway, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II, with new links extending to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat.

Constructed at a cost of nearly ₹5,580 crore, the UER-II project is expected to ease traffic pressure on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads, including major choke points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.

The new corridor will also provide direct access to industrial hubs in Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, reducing congestion within Delhi and expediting goods movement across the NCR.

Delhi Section of Dwarka Expressway and UER-II: Transforming Urban Mobility

These projects represent the government’s broader infrastructure strategy to improve ease of living, reduce travel time, and ensure seamless regional mobility.

By integrating multi-modal connectivity and reducing pressure on Delhi’s arterial roads, the Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway and the UER-II project are set to transform urban mobility across the capital region.
